This Privacy Policy explains how the operator of the Mission application ("Mission," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your information when you use the Mission mobile application and related widgets, extensions, backend services, and websites (collectively, the "App"). It also describes the choices and rights you have.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App. This Policy is incorporated into and part of our Terms and Conditions.
We designed Mission to be privacy-conscious: much of your data stays on your device, we do not sell your personal information, and sensitive on-device features (like the camera, motion sensors, and Screen Time selections) are used only to make the App work.
The following is stored locally on your device (for example, in app storage / UserDefaults) and is not transmitted to our servers:
When you use features that sync across devices, we (through our backend hosted on Vercel and database provider Supabase) may store:
When you use the App, we and our infrastructure providers may automatically collect limited technical data such as device/app version, operating-system version, locale, timestamps, and diagnostic or error information necessary to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Service. We may use identifiers for authentication and fraud prevention. We do not build advertising profiles from your data.
Subscriptions are purchased and processed through the Apple App Store and managed via StoreKit / RevenueCat. We do not collect or store your full payment-card number. We receive transaction and entitlement information needed to verify and manage your subscription.
We use the information described above to:
We rely on the following legal bases where required (for example, under the GDPR): performance of a contract (to provide features you request), your consent (for permissions like camera, motion, Health, tracking, and optional features — which you may withdraw), legitimate interests (to secure, maintain, and improve the App), and legal obligations.
You control device permissions in your device settings and may decline or revoke them at any time (which may disable related features):
| Permission | Why the App uses it |
|---|---|
| Notifications / Alarms (AlarmKit, Live Activities) | Schedule and deliver alarms and reminders and show alarm status. |
| Camera | Capture a photo on-device to verify a camera-based wake-up task. |
| Motion & Fitness | Count push-ups/squats on-device to dismiss an alarm. |
| Apple Health (steps) | Count steps for a walking-based wake-up task (only if enabled). |
| Microphone / Audio | Soundscape and alarm-audio playback. |
| Photo Library | Save photos captured for tasks and/or select photos for verification. |
| Screen Time / Family Controls | Block selected apps during sleep or wind-down; selections are never decoded by us. |
| Background App Refresh / Background Modes | Let alarms, audio, and updates run reliably in the background. |
| App Tracking Transparency | Request permission, where applicable, before using identifiers for tracking. |
| Local Network | Used only in development builds (live-reload); not used in the App Store release for tracking. |
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:
We may also share aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you.
We retain your information for as long as needed to provide the App and for the purposes described in this Policy — for example, while your device/profile is active, while you hold a subscription, and as required to comply with legal, tax, accounting, security, or dispute-resolution obligations. Purchase logs may be retained for audit and legal compliance. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it. Data stored only on your device is removed when you delete the App or clear its data.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including transport encryption, restricting direct database access (our App communicates only with our backend API, which scopes every request to the authenticated user), row-level security as defense-in-depth, and hashing of authentication secrets. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your device and credentials secure.
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at support@trytest.app and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:
To exercise these rights, email support@trytest.app. We will respond as required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity. Much of your data can also be managed or deleted directly in the App or by deleting the App and requesting server-side deletion of any synced data.
EU/EEA & UK users: our legal bases are described in Section 4. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
California users (CCPA/CPRA): you have the rights described above, including the rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale/sharing. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
We and our service providers may process and store your information in countries other than your own, including the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for such transfers. By using the App, you understand your information may be transferred as described.
The App integrates with and links to third-party services (including Apple, RevenueCat, Supabase, and Vercel). Their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices. We encourage you to review them.
Some browsers offer "Do Not Track" signals. The App does not track users across third-party websites for advertising, and we do not respond to DNT signals differently at this time.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you (for example, by in-app notice or by updating the "Last updated" date and posting the revised Policy). Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy. We encourage you to review it periodically.
